Restart Africa – SANCHAT
Restart Africa prides itself on improving the entire community of Gilgil, Kenya through education, training and employment. Restart is committed to healing for the long term.
We have built, maintained and fully supported two secondary schools for orphaned and vulnerable children. Restart also provides housing, supporting and educating street children in what is called the “Restart Centre”. The children have come from utterly desperate situations but Restart Africa works to insure their futures are bright, promising and full of love and hope.
Work With Lift Up Africa
The need for the irrigation system was clear. The land is very dry and the cost of feeding the children is very expensive. Without an irrigation system, there was no way to produce enough food to feed the 600 children currently under care.
With a fully integrated irrigation system the potential yield will vastly increase and allow the staff to feed many more hungry mouths. The staple Kenyan diet can be extremely poor in nutrients. The hope is to be able to grow a large variety of vegetables so children, youth and adults can boost their immune systems.
Waste management in Gilgil is a crisis and one cannot fail to recognize this desperate state of affairs. A trip around Gilgil will reveal the large masses of waste material littering the streets, residential areas, and the highway to Naivasha. This poses a serious health risk. Environmental degradation is at its peak, and one can no longer have the pleasure of breathing fresh air and having the comfort of seeing clean streets and a well maintained environment. Lift Up Africa is proud to be partnering with Restart on both the irrigation system and the briquettes.
